5-String Electric Bass Guitars

The 5-string bass guitar can be tuned to a number of tunings but the 5th string usually helps extend the lower range.  Tuning of B0-E1-A1-D2-G2 is common but favoured by the Jazz bassists is the "tenor" tuning of E-A-D-G-C

Many well known guitar manufactuers produce 5-string Bass guitars including the Fender V Bass created in 1965.  Popular today also is the Yamaha BB5000 bass first produced in 1984.
